Dear Pa.

Well we went over the top as they call it and both of us came through O.K. and this is the first chance I have had of writing letters since. Geordie and I are in good shape and hope to keep it up. we are taking a rest at present in a bunch of tents and the bands are sure playing some to-day. we went to church to-day as we hadn't gone for quite a while. There is a big gun not far from our tent [remainder of letter missing]
