Dear Mother,
Your parcel hasn't come yet and I am looking forward to it every day. I just came off quarter guard to-night and I was on from 12.30 till 2.30 in the night it was very cold for July weather. I am not going to the musketry school now as about half the [?] was stopped on account of shortage of instructors. Violet's latter came last Friday. I haven't seen Art since about a month ago. I suppose the raspberries are right now and the blackberries. Is Bruce working at home now I guess that is the best way. Be sure and send a box of eats pretty regular as when I haven't any money which is pretty often I get hungry for something good to eat. Is Mrs Moyer running her ice cream parlor this summer wish I could have some ice cream just once. We expect to go to Hythe soon for shooting on the ranges. There isn't very much news this time and when you send a box put in a couple big cakes with lots of raisins and currants and chocolates and all good things you know. We expect to get our six days leave soon so if you can send me a few pounds I will be able to go to London. I will close now with love to all.
Your son Jay.
