Dear Jay,
We were so glad to get your letter of the 26th of Mar. So glad you got another box & sox. It is a wonder you get so many as you do with so many boats being sunk. I do hope you are safe & well Jay, we are very anxious about just now when there is such dreadful fighting going on & perhaps you are in it, let us know if you were in the Vimy Ridge battle & tell something about it. The papers are full of the brave deeds of the Canadians, the war will soon be over at the rate they are going. It cannot be too soon. Violet wrote to you this week also Grace. I think you are not getting all of the letters, but no wonder. We are sending another box tomorrow with cookies, pear jam, & sox. We will no. the boxes from now so this will be no. 1. You let us know the number of the box you receive so that we will know how many you get. Arthur has just come in with 6 suckers, the kind we used to get in Jordan in the spring. It is the first we have had so they will taste good I guess. Wish I could send one to you but I guess you would not eat it if I did. Arthur is home from school with a cold but will be alright to go back on Monday. A brother of Herman Dobson is in the Hospital here, a returned soldier waiting an operation on his leg. When I was in St. Catherines Mrs. Moyer asked me to call & see him. We are having him & a soldier friend of his to dinner on Sunday. Uncle Dan is to go for the in the car. There was an Eng mail in today but no letter from you. Dear Jay it is so good of you to write so often as you do. I know it is not always convenient to write. We thank you so much for the letters. Sometimes we wish you could tell a little more of what you are doing but we are glad indeed for you enough to let us know that you are well. The clock has struck two p.m. You know the old blue clock that was silent for so long. I had it fixed & just got it home today. It is good to hear it strike the hour & tell us the time again. dear Jay let us hope it will not be long until you come home, we are just living for that. Be good & brave my boy whatever happens. I feel that you will be spared to come home when the victory is won. Goodbye for this letter.
Much love from home and mother
