Dear Mother.
It must be two or three weeks since I last wrote but things have been so uncertain that I kept putting it off to see what really would happen. I had my medical board ten days ago and came down here a week ago but no signs of moving yet and the only thing that keeps us back is our pay books. As soon as we sign our last pay certificate we are put on the next draft of which there has been two leave here in the past week but as I have not signed mine yet do not know if I will get away on the next Sailing or not. Since coming down here have met all kinds of 53rd boys and still keep running across them. I saw Chas. Girling about ten days ago and Chas. Dopson since I came down here. I am going up to see Doc Goodhand this afternoon. He is a dental officer here and is waiting to back home also. I have had no mail for over two weeks now and the last I think was the parcel from the Pres. Ladies of which I have not acknowledged yet and wish you would do so for me. I have an awful hunch to stay off in Winnipeg for a few days but have not decided yet if I will do so or not and if you happen to get word that I am on my way home and do not arrive when I should you will know that I have stayed over. I have not heard from Gordon since before the armistice but Mrs. May had a letter from him and he had been to Scotland on leave. I put in for Xmas leave to Scotland but could get no money so did not go and have not had any money for over a month but happen to have a little left yet which will see me through until I get a bit before leaving for home. I have about $150.00 to my credit in my pay book and the five months pay that I will receive will make me over $400.00 to start afresh with but do not know if I will get any pension or not and do not know if I am marked BI or BII but am not losing any sleep over that though. I still have that gastric trouble yet and had that Rx made up that you sent me but did not seem to do me much good as it seemed to be a lonic more the anything else but went today and am getting one made up of bismuth, soda, peppermint and cascara which a fellow told me about and gave me some of it which seemed to help me quite a bit so will have some to see me on my way home with. Do not be anxious because I am not home but it is liable to be some time yet before I leave this country as lots of fellows have hung around here for a month or more before they could get away. Will close now hoping this finds everybody well & do not expect to get many more letters from me or even get any more
Love to all
Your loving son
Gordon
