Dear Mom.

Well, here I am again. I haven’t received any mail from you yet but I believe that that is natural for the first few weeks over here. I have only written Norma once so far but I hope she writes back soon. Please write back as soon as possible and tell me how long this takes to reach you. I am writing this outside since the weather is swell with lots of sun and everything. I met Jack Robinson over here not long ago and he looks fine. I am very low in cigarettes but I hope I shall receive some soon. How is Mil? I hope she is better now. Give my love to Grandma and Grandpa etc. because I can’t write them very often unless it is by ordinary mail. These forms are hard to get. How is Kelly making out? Is he going into the army soon? Say hello to Peg and the baby. Give my address to all the gang and ask them to write will you? I hope I soon get a letter from you as I am waiting for one. However it isn’t your fault. I was in London on my leave as I told you. Did I tell you that I saw St. Paul’s, London Bridge, Tower Bridge etc? The people over here seem to be swell to all of us. They treat us like kings. The pubs around here are just like the hotels in Canada but the farther away you get the quieter and more homey they become. There are some beautiful hedges and gardens around the country. I don’t like the English beer though. They say it was much better before the war but right now it runs through with very little effort. However if you are very lucky you can find a pub with a little scotch or rum. It is much better. Did I tell you that I met Mary Malloch again in London. I seem to bump into her a lot. Did Shorty get home at all? I haven’t received any word from him yet but I am still hoping. I met Graham Miller who used to work in the Royal at Pakenham the other day. I seem to meet someone I know wherever I go. Well I think I had better go and eat dinner soon, Mom, so I will close and give you all my love.

Your loving son
Jack
