Dear Mother:-

I guess you will almost be tired of waiting for a letter from me. But I couldnt write any sooner we had a dandy trip coming across the ocean and we all enjoyed it fine it was a great deal nicer then we expected. There is a whole lot I would like to tell you But I cant I wont write very much this time for I am pretty Busy to-night. But next time will write a long letter But I only want you to know we arrived fine and dandy and couldnt have had a nicer trip. we all enjoyed it fine. There was a few got sea sick But not Bad it didnt Bother me only I had a headache the first 3 days. we are in a dandy camp. This is the same place as Alex and Dan were. the name of the place we couldnt make out on Alex's letter was HANTS. But they are Both gone to France. well say maw I was never so much surprised in my life as I was at this country yes you have no idea what it is like.

The way they have farms laid out and the Rigs they drive with the way they use horses just looks like pictures you would see in Books of olden times the trains engines and cars are no more what they are in Canada then day is like night. the cards are just like Alex said 8 men in each part. But the seat Runs all the way across the car say I thought Echo Bay and the Soo were not up to much. But I wouldnt give either of them for this place Just the same But we like it all Right tho our great trouble is getting use to the pennies and shillings. But it will only take a little while to get use to them. This is not away back in the Bush like Alex said. say I have so much to tell you I really dont know what to say first. we were inspected to-day and the general said we were as fine a Battn as ever came into This camp and that we would make as good a Bunch of soldiers as ever went from here to France. and he is an old English officer. Say look on the map and see where we are or what part of the country we are in. you can tell Better then I can tell you the name of the place is Bramshott. But the station is Liphook I think. well I dont know of any more just now. I cant write to-night at all. I will write again in about 2 days. Be sure and write often. Be sure and write often. Good Bye love from

John
