France 25/1/18.

My Dear Mir,

It is nearly a month since I wrote you, but there have been several to write home. I received four in a bunch from Mother. Also had one from Nert, to-day, dated Dec. 16th. It is very provoking the way our blooming mail comes thro, but when they begin to address to No. 10 again, I will get it more quickly I think. You might even put A.P.O. 4 in the left hand lower corner of the envelopes, in addition to my other French address, this may speed them up a little, and will be my location for a while at least.

For the first time since we came over here, Fritzie visited us to-day. I think he was only taking pictures tho, as I did not hear anything like explosions. The batteries fired about 25 rounds at him & made a little excitement for a few minutes just about a quarter to three.

There is really very little to tell you of here, or rather that I can tell you our quarters are not quite ready yet, so we are occupying the wards still. The other wards are gradually filling up and we are getting busy. Our Sisters have not arrived yet but will likely be over soon. Only a few of the original 10th Sisters were with us at the last, as they were gradually being sent to England. The same is true of the M.O.s, and Capt Turner visited us this week, while on leave.

I have a nice little glass “hypo” for you, which I will send home, as soon as I get a suitable box. I saw it down town & as it is very easily sterilized, I thought you might like it.

Why of course Bobbie is a “P.B,” even if she is a real Cockney Ha! Ha! She is a funny kid, & says the next time I am in London but I think nix. I hope she can get down to Eastbourne, if I ever get leave out of this muddy hole. It will likely be Sept. anyway, before I get back, but we should worry.

Fritz is here again & the guns are just tearing it off now. I am on duty so must run. 7.10 P.M. Just able to get back now 9.10 A.M., and it has been some warm two hours, believe me. Our old huts fairly rocked between the gunfire and bonds, of which there were quite a few. Most of them were right in the town, & we are just outside. I think three fell over past us. Being on duty, I had to rush stretcher cases to a protected hut, and it was some job, I will keep this open till morning & tell you if anything more happens.

Loving brother,
Worth.
