Letter
1.4.18
Dear Mr Winterbottom,–
With reference to your letter re the death of your dear son S.A. Winterbottom, and in reply beg to say he was killed instantaneously by a shell on the morning of November 6th at Passchendaele, and in consequence did not suffer.
If you were to write to “The Director of Graves Registration and Enquiries, War Office, London England” he may be able to give you the name of the cemetery and a photo of the grave. I did not bury any of our men as I was looking after the wounded on the field of battle.
With Sympathy
Alex Ketterson,
6th Inf. Bde, Canadians.
