Dear Mum.

I am sorry I did not write before. The reason of this is because I have been exploring the city.

First, however, thanks very much for the grub you gave me. The toffee was swell. – Please tell Keith to shut his swollen jaw –

Five fellows were left behind at Kamloops but caught us up at North Bend.

The climate here is fine. There is no snow on the ground although the hills nearby are white with it. The main things down here are the coal mines. I have also seen some very pretty females. When on guard the other day a littly girl passed by. The hair on this kiddy was the color of spun gold. I never saw anything to beat it.

There are a couple of nice picture shows a roller-skating rink and pool rooms where one can have a fine game of pool for (5¢). Up at Vernon they charged fifteen cents per head. I might mention that beer is (5¢) a glass. However as I dont booze that doesn’t interest you.

Do you remember Charlie Bailey. He is an officer in the home guards down here.
