My darling girl

Have not had a letter from you since I last wrote, probably owing to the fact that we have been on the move & the mail has not caught up. At the present time we are in a fairly large French town well behind the line & out of sound almost of the guns, this is the first town we have seen for a month which has not been battered to pieces by Artillery fire & believe me its a most agreeable change. I am billeted in a Chateau have a nice comfortable bed, the grounds are very beautiful, the river Ancre runs through, lots of trees & laid out very nicely. We expect however to move very shortly, & will probably be in the big push again before long. Well what do you think of the War news now, it almost looks as if we had Fritz on the run, believe me the troops feel fine about it, the morale is excellent, & from what I saw of the German prisoners we captured in our show, their morale is certainly going to pieces. Well sweetheart am looking forward to being with you before long, I wonder if you could borrow, hire or steal a bicycle for me when I get back so that we could be able to ride around to see our friends.

Fondest love to you & the bairns.

Your loving,

Jim
