What Battalion was Johnnie Douglas, seems I am one of the luck ones.
Guess I wrote Grace when it was to late, just my luck but anyway I like the English girl best
I have just come back from five days draft leave I was up to Falkinghams, and had a good time, only time was too short, had a forty mile boat ride up the river Oase to Hall
So you cant keep B.P. all to your self; I am surprised at you, Some of those guys are going to be in court for cradle snatching.
Hope you marry a farmer it would be a shame if you did’nt
So you could’nt write to W.Mc once a week I write my best girl that often.
Say those Carmount boys are working it pretty good aint they but conscription will catch fellows like them, sorry to say things like that about your cousins.
Hope you can and are doing good strait ploughing.
Well Essie this is a short letter but it is the best I can do this time, so I will close with love from your cousin
