Dear Dad -
You will notice by the address that I am in London. Am up here for three days. This is the second time I have been up here and will have a lot to tell when I get back.
Received your welcome letter, also saw that friend of yours who is in the Highlanders.
Thought I had lots of time to write you but, see I have not. Have to catch train back to camp in five minutes.
Before I close though I want to ask a favour of you. That is the real reason why I am writing you. Will you please loan me some money. I am in debt, and I want to get squared up.
Please remember that I have money at home. £3 or $15.00 is being sent out of my pay every month. but I do not want them to know that I am in debt. You will be helping me an awful lot so would you please do it. will certainly pay you back with love, from your loving son,
Hugh
P.S. Forgot to wish you the best of Season's greetings
