Dear Aunt Becca:-
I received your last letter dated Feb. 1st a few days ago. We just came out of the trenches for [censored] weeks rest and I will be able to write oftener. It has been pretty cold in the trenches lately but it is better than when it's wet and muddy. My cough is getting a little better now. You shouldn't worry so much about me because they are nearly all coughing as bad and it's a wonder to me that we are not worse. We get a little rum issue every morning when we are in the trenches and it breaks up our colds and keeps us warm for a while. I don't think there is anything that I need very bad now that the weather is getting warmer but I am always glad to get a parcel. We only get six dollars a month and that doesn't go very far over here now. I haven't seen Earl for over two months but I expect to be able to see him soon. I saw Allic Ball about three months ago at the base but haven't seen him since. I will have to close for this time as it is getting late.
From Your Loving Nephew,
Sammy
