Dear Mom and all.

Just a few lines to let you know I am fine and in A1 condition.  I hope you are all well down there and that Jake is enjoying the rest of his leave.  The weather here is very Queer hot one day, cold the next.  We were on a 14 mile route march on Thursday and we were ankle deep in water coming from the rain and latter on in Midday the sun was Blistering making the road just run with water.

Well Mom I have not found much to write about except I could have stayed longer in Montreal as the road up to valcartier was blocked and we spent all day monday in the YMCA in quebec city.  If I had known of such a thing I would have stayed and caught the 9:00 am train, then I could have had a few more hours with Jack.

George and Mervin are O.K. and we still are having the same old fun although the train trip in Monday, then spending all day in quebec was enough to kill a hardened sailor.  The train coming down was a refrigerator in my opinion and we could not sleep all night but things brightened as we had a swim at the YMCA and one good meal free of charge.

The training is getting a little harder up here.  The first two weeks were easy but they are getting tough now.

Well Mom this is all I have to say so tell Jake to enjoy his leave and leave the women alone.  Yours with all my love and kisses

Wally
