Dear Dad
Just a line to let you know that I have not forgotten you I wrote to sis anna but as yet have not heard from her I wish she would write often as it is very lonesome I this camp there is only two things to do and I dont care for them that is to drink beer and gamble an you cant do that and look after your work I dont mind a beer now and again but they sit around the serg'ts mess and drink untill it runs out their ears nearly Well Dad my job was changed the other day I think I will have it a little better now I'm now transport sergt think of me on horse back Just great What do you think. It would make your heart ache to se the wounded men in England some with arms off some with legs some with part of their faces shot away and silver plates in their place it almost makes one sick to see it there are hundreds & hundreds in London do nothing but walk the streets most of them broke I have not had my long leave yet but hope to get it xmas then I think I will go to Birmingham there is a young fellow [?] that used to live in Galt so I will have some-one to show me around Well I must close for this time With love to all your loving son
Bill
