My Dearest Mother.
So far I get then I wonder what more I have to say for lying here in Hospital gives few subjects of Conversation.
For instance I wrote the Bank & asked them to cable you to send your letters in care of them.
Since writing you last I have had my liberty of action, already small, considerably curtailed. they wont permit me to wash myself or to straighten up in my bed rest when I slip down. They wash & lift me and tuck me up & feed me very carefully. After all I am very lucky. Last night two Englishmen came in all battered up by the explosion of a 5.9 shell in their Battalion H.Q. One had his nose & teeth all blown away & several wounds in the hands. The other officer looked like something a wild lion had been mauling - one eye gone several shrapnel pieces in his nose, cheeks, ears, neck, hands and his legs in a terrible state as if they had been knawed at in many places & pieces bitten right out. I am now at Le Treport in france & expect to leave for Eng soon.
Much love
Yours
Gordon
