Dear Mrs Thornton

I think you may like to have a letter from me as a short time ago I went to see your son Gordon in the hospital at 53 Mount Street - considering what a bad wound he is suffering from he looked better than I expected - & he was sitting up in bed with a little table on the bed with his writing materials - I was only in London two nights - but managed to go & see him twice - I asked my sister in law to go & see him before she left & she took him some carnations & he wrote to me & said "Mrs DH & her carnations were both lovely" - he seems to have plenty of people to go & see him - we want him to come & stay but it seems the Canadians are so strict they wont give them leave until they are ready to go on active service again. we are very disappointed as we are quite fond of Gordon - & want him to look upon our home as his when he is on this side of the water - If he is a long time in London I must go up again to see him. I am so sorry for you being so far away from him - but I should think they would send him back to Canada after being wounded twice - With kind regards from my Aunt & from Us
