Dear Mother,
I have just come back from town, having been out all day.
I started out after dinner, walked down the beach to Folkstone. I went to the swimming baths and had a dip. I then had a stroll around the harbour and watched the ships coming and going. I went up to the club and met one of the old boys out of the battalion, with whom I had my tea and went to church to hear some of the Christmas singing.
It has been bright all day which is quite a change. The fine weather has its drawbacks as it means air raids.
Syd is staying at the Imperial Hospital for Xmas so I did not bother about leave. I don't expect I should have got it anyway.
I am enclosing Mrs. Row's last letter which you will like to read. She does not want me to beat it this Christmas.
Love to all,
From Jack
