Dear Jack,

I was up the other day and saw Syd. He is looking well and still on the transport I am thankful to say, and you hold that job as long as you can.

The old regiment had a bad cutting up. Your old platoon had only 3 or 4 standing after one affair. A number of them are passing through our hands now.

Will write you a longer letter later. I have not received an answer to my urgent one I sent a few days ago. Syd received his the day I saw him. I also read a letter from home he had.

If you can take a run up the line and see me you can enquire and find out where we are, remember it is the Canadian Casualty Clearing Station as there is also a British unit with the same number.

Good luck,

Dad
