Dear Mother

Just a few lines about what they have been doing to us since we came back. It started to rain when we left Regina and it kept it up till we got into camp and you never saw such a dreary hole in all your life when we hit it. We got here in time for supper still raining of course and we had to eat standing up in the rain, then after supper we had to hunt up our Blankets and the rest of our kit and find a tent by that time it was time to roll in, then the Sergt came in and said we were to get up at 5.30 in the morning to go on a march. Well we marched about 20 miles that day and that night they warned me for Crop of the Guard and thats as far as I have got. I am writing this in the guard room. We are expecting to go away on Monday night and I am going as Corporal. The sooner we get out of here the better. Gee but its cold down here We have to keep the water running all night to keep it from freezing. However the worst is yet to come so I think we will get over this. When you write will you send me my big sisters address so that I can write to her. All our equipment is here so I guess its no dream we are going IF you answer this right away we will get your letter before we go away. Then we can write again before we go. I don't know if I can get any more of those photos in time but if I can I will send you one. I can never thank you enough for what you have done for me Mother but I will do as much for Gordon when we get to the other side. I can think of no more just now. Give my love to all my little sisters and to Dad.

I Remain Your Loving English Son
