Dear Mother:-
Received your very welcome letter last night saying that Frank had left and that Syd had been transferred to the base. I expect his transfer has gone thro at last.
I had a very nice letter from Mrs. Douglas saying she was just going to Yorkshire.
I know Sgt. Spracklin pretty well and I met him just by chance when he was downtown for the first time. He was hit the same day as me but is looking fine now. He is one of the originals.
Well I am glad Syd to hear Syd has left the line. It sure used to worry me when there was anything doing. I guess he is jake for the duration. I can go back to the trenches with a good heart. I don't think Frank will go to the trenches for a while even if he does hit England. It will do him good when he does.
Mr. Adams was down to see me last week. He was looking pretty good but he doesn't look as husky as he used to.
I hope you don't forget to drop me that ten dollars in bills that I asked you for, also the badges. Get 'em at Dingwall's.
Had a letter from a cousin of Dad's who was very anxious to see me. I have so many invitations for when I get my leave that I hardly know how I'm going to fulfill 'em. Everyone thinks I am homeless but I am far from it.
Thank Bessie for her letter and give them all my love. I am getting along fine.
Jack
