Dear Father,
Sorry I didn't answer your last letter for so long. I went over to Croydon yesterday and had quite a nice time.
I am getting along fine, and am doing Physical Training now. Expect to be here about three weeks longer.
I would like you to send me another pound when you have one to spare. I will be sure to let mother know, so that she can take it out of mine. Now don't send it until after you are paid and have it to spare. I put the last one in the letter to Mr. Beultey so you see I didn't spend it, and sometimes by the end of the week I am pretty short as ten shillings doesn't go very far when there are so many little things one needs here.
I met one of the fellows that was in my platoon in the 19th he was in the 62nd too. He was the second highest marksman in the 62nd and was buried by a shell in Flanders. I helped to carry him out the night he was wounded. I think I told you about him once before. Well I expect to see you before very long if possible. In the meantime
Goodbye.
Your Loving Son
George.
