France

Dear Mother:-

I suppose you were surprised to hear that I had come to France so suddenly. We arrived here last Saturday afternoon. We took the boat from [censored] about five o'clock at night we spent a very rough night in crossing and I was sea sick just a little. Our transport landed at [censored] in the morning and we had a long march to the base. I was very much surprised to come across Art Moyer the other morning he had just come back from the [?] with a slight shrapnel wound in the cheek. We have been to-gether ever since. He is in the 21st Batt while I am in the 1st. Art and I are writing now on a pile of lumber. He is trying to get a transfer into the same batt as I so we can be to-gether that would be fine wouldn't it. This part of France seems to be a lot like Ontario in a good many ways. Even the mosquitos which are as big as canaries. The French money is very confusing to me they have a lot of paper money here and when you get a bunch of it you think you are a millionaire but when you figure it up you find you have about sixpence. We do not expect to be here very long but address your letters the same but to the 1st Batt Canadians BEF. Love to all.

Your loving Son.
