Dear Jack
Glad to receive your note, there seems to be ¡®doings¡¯ over there.
Well I went up to London for six days with Espinoza, we saw the principle sights, St. Paul¡¯s, the Abbey, Zoo, Tower, Tussauds, National Gallery, Covent Garden, Hyde Park. We stayed at the Maple Leaf Club. It¡¯s a fine place, one shilling and four pence for bed & breakfast. It¡¯s right in the fashionable quarter, Berkley Square right off Piccadilly.
I met one of the curators in the Gallery who knew Grandpa Biggins. We certainly enjoyed going around, also we were lucky every place we went to somebody took an interest in us and showed us around.
We arrived Saturday night. Went to Croydon and saw Ashton Row who is the Ben Row I spoke to you about, he changed his name on Monday. Called at Ashton¡¯s place of business, he took us through the Abbey and as he publishes a guide on the subject and takes a great interest in architecture he made it very interesting for us. Afterward we lunched at Satti¡¯s. That was the last I saw of him.
We also met that lady friend of yours with the nice little daughter.
Tell Sydney to drop a line. Every time you have a chance, write. I have not heard from home for some time, last letter was the 26th of August and they stated there was a frost on the 25th and I see by the papers that they had 93¢ª in the shade on the 31st so Winnipeg is keeping up its reputation.
Write soon,
Dad
