April 3rd
My dearest Beryl
This is to wish you very many happy returns of your birthday- I hope it arrives by the 29th
I’ve really never known a time for news being so scarce as it is at present- There seems nothing whatever to say--
I flew a German Fokker machine about today and took it over and flew about a Boche prisoners camp just to show them one of their machines again- they all waved to me & seemed highly delighted-
I went for a long ride this afternoon over what is going to be a point to point course for Monday at which all squadrons in the wing turn out. – it ought to be great fun-
Tomorrow four of us are going to fly up to Brussels as there are lots & lots of spare German machines there: we hope to be able to pinch one on the quiet: we’ll have lunch and then come home: Excuse this very scrappy letter. No more- lunch
love to everybody
ever your very loving brother
