Dear Mother. I guess you are wondering why I wired for money. I didn't want to but I had no choice under the circumstances. I broke a very valuable piece of equipment I can't tell you what it is as it is secret stuff. I was lucky to get off as easy as I did & not get put on a charge which would spoil my Flight Sgt. I only have to pay 1/3 of the cost which is close to L35. They are taking it out of my pay L5 10 this pay & L5 10 the next so that would only leave a L for two weeks & I find it hard enough on L6. Did you see the figures of the money we are to get when we are discharged. $450 rehabilation $100 for clothing. $7.50 a month for all the months in service in Canada & $15.00 a month for all the time spent overseas. Should be a nice little pile. I have not put my Flight Sgt up yet but it is 2 month overdue now & when it comes through I will get back pay on it. When it comes through you will see it on my return address. Did you get the birthday card & the straight mail letter I sent you a few weeks ago. I was not quite sure of the date but I knew you had a birthday in August. I received a letter from Auntie Gladis & I am going to answer it tonight. I will write another straight mail letter in a few days & send another 6 pictures I have here of our crew. We have picked up another member for our crew. He is our engineer & he is in the R.A.F. He comes from London & is a very nice chap. Well it has been raining for 3 days steady now & it is very cold & damp. We are working hard again, studying & flying too. This is the last stage before the real thing & its only a few weeks off. This stuff we are using is all new & very complicated. It is something like television. Tell the sisters to be patient as I am going to write them. So long for now. Love to Dad & the family. I will be home soon. All my Love Norm.
