Dear Sister:-

Well I am in England now. I suppose you have received my field card by now saying I was wounded.

It is not a very bad one though. My left hand is broken and there is a hole in the flesh. I will be alright again in a few months. My address at present is:- Sig. J .M Brown # 886089 ward 5 princess Christian Military Hospital, Englefield Green; Surrey, England. I am having a fine time in hospital here, in fact its just like home. A rest is pleasant after life in France anyhow. I hope this finds you all in the best of health, and enjoying life. I got hit the night after receiving Marion's letter. Shrapnel it was that got me. We received a parcel each today from the Canadian Red Cross. It contained shaving outfit tooth paste and brush and other useful articles. It came in handy alright as I lost all my kit. We are having rain every day here now. The trees and grass are all green, and I expect we will have sunshine next month. It will be fine to be able to see Eng. in summer. It was winter when I was here before. I have not heard from you for some time now, but hope to soon. Give my love to all at home. X
