Mr L. L. Dally
Dear Sir.

The enclosed letter came to this office addressed to Donald M. Forbes, a member of our Regiment, but as he is not now among the living I took the liberty of opening it so as to learn the name and address of its author that I might return it to him. Mr. Forbes died in Hospital at Fort Monroe or Washington, I do not now remember which, some two weeks ago. He went to the Hospital with the wounded men as a nurse & the first word we got from him was a report in the paper of his death. We have learned nothing further concerning his death. Do you know the names and address of his Parents. If so, will you be so kind as to send them to me. There are one or two things in the possession of one of Forbes friends which they would be glad to have as a momento of their depart son. There is no particular value, but will be prized by the Parents. Direct to : Chaplain Brown
