Dear Jess:

We arrived here safely Monday night; we had a lovely drive down in coach; no roke[?], so we had to get out at every stop and run ahead to keep warm. Arnold Stewart and a couple of other fellows came down in coach also; Arn had a bottle with him an be-fore he got to Shub. he was quite sick.

I suppose John and Gad have got settled. They will have a nice home now. It did not take the snow long to go did it? The common was nice and soupy to-day. I think it will be hard to-morrow. alright.

We only had an hours drill this after-noon and then we went up to recreation room and had a sing. The companies competed. They did not tell us which was best.

I have not bought that picture yet, but will before long, we were paid yesterday. Most of boys are beating for the rink tonight. The 85th team is going to play the socialists to morrow night.

I know you are glad that school starts Monday. Do you feel better since your sick turn, or are you better yet? Hope you are. Have not seen Hed since he came down. I am go-ing over some of these days. Hoping to hear from you soon

I remain your Eff. bro Spence

Love to Father and rest of family.
