My Dearest

I was so pleased to receive another of your precious letters this morning, yes you had dated the other one the 7th. I thought it had been rather quick on the way, having received it on Sat afternoon.

Yes we have most exciting time shopping in Doncaster, I believe on Saturday the riot act was read in the Market, & queues are quite a length when we go to business in the mornings. I should think shopping was never done so early as it is now, of course there is a policeman at each grocery shop door.

I hope you enjoyed the lecture, it should be interesting if delivered well.

Legay is in hospital in Winnipeg with a twisted knee, the result of playing football. He wrote on Monday Nov. 12th & had been told that his draft was leaving for England on the Wednesday. Was not that bad management on his part but it was too bad, wouldn't he be feeling pleased.

About a present, Dearest, I think it will be best to wait until you come because I want to know what you would like, thank you so much. Do you provide your own early morning cup of tea? Of course you would get some tea & sugar alright, a soldier especially one in blue stands first chance, which of course is as it should be.

We shall be anxious tomorrow to hear the result of Millie's journey to York, fancy removing again so soon, it is terrible.

Please do not think anything of the lovely slant I am making of my writing, I have a book on my knee. I am afraid I was bad last night or rather this morning, I sat up reading an exciting book until nearly one o'clock (it is a very rare occurrance & I always scold myself after it) of course the others had been gone long before, the fire went out & I crawled upstairs in the dark nearly frozen & was still frozen when I got up. Oh but I was miserable & could not find any matches. The weather is awfully cold but fine, that is one consolation.

We are very busy at the office, some say all the work will be cleared out by Christmas. Did I tell you that they were stll having a small office? Or more to the point, they would continue to keep a small office open but if we go to York, it will not concern me. I think I will close now for the present.

So Good-night Dearest, hoping to see you soon.
Lots & lots & lots of love & xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
