My dear Fern:

Haven't heard anything from you for a couple of days but expect some word in a day or two.

I suppose you will have heard by this time that Jack McClintock has gone west. If you know his sister you might tell her the circumstances as they want to know them He was on a defensive patrol with De Penceir[?] and Gardner, D.P. leading. They dived over the line at about 10000' at one or two two enemy two seaters who were working there. As they dived they were attacked by about four (4) enemy scouts A triplane (Fokker) and three Phlaty or Flaty. The first sign they had of these four was tracer bullets flying around. The triplane got one Mc C. tail and fired at him but D.P. fired about sixty rounds at it and it went down in a spin. D.P. and Gardenir both saw McC. Gliding down after that but when they were finally clear of the Huns McC has disappeared. He may be all right but it is hard to tell and we will have to wait for word from the Huns. Personally I'm rather pessimistic about him.

I am quite busy these days and have been on early shows for the past five mornings which means anything from 6 a.m. onwards so Dad need worry no longer about me having nothing to do.
