Dear Mother
Just a few lines to let you know I am well. I am still in the quarantine station but expect to get moved about next Tuesday. When we get to the other camp we get out equipment. It is all canvas with about a thousand pieces of bras to shine. So it will take all my spare time shining up. I was over there today on bath parade. We get all those kinds of parades on our own time. It is Sunday today so we missed church parade. I was talking to Tudor Jones today. He doesn't like [?] much. He has been in the army about 6 months now.
I got a letter from Aunt Jim early last week and a few days later from Cousin Mary she got my address from Aunt Jim. I was surprised to hear from her. She gave me John's address. I wrote him a few times and also answered the letters I got. So you can see I'm keeping in touch with my relatives in Scotland alright. I wish it were time for my leave. I'd like to get up and see them all.
How is Everything in Kamloops. I suppose it is scorching. It is pretty hot hear at times. We were issued another pair of boots the other day. I got a pair of eights and they look like scows. They are like the old country pit boots we used to see the miners wearing in ladysmith. I will get my Canadian boots fixed before I go on leave they let us keep two pair till we go to France. How is Dad & Hannah and Charles don't forget to write soon. I will have to close now as news is scarce around here, give my best love to all your loving son.
John
