Dear Margaret,-

I was real disappointed at not seeing you again. I had so much to tell you too but I left quite early for Louise so my time was pretty well taken up. I've been rushing around as usual trying to get a few things. Of course I'm always one of these last minute people.

Christmas this year is overshadowed by the events to follow. I think my teaching days are over. I got a lovely oak mantle clock from the Louise people and I'm very proud of it.

It's a mockery to say 'Merry Christmas' to you with that awful ache ever present but I know that you are trying to look on the bright side and so my wish is that some bright way of looking at life may always come to mind and that the knowledge of the love and sympathy of all your many friends may help to heal the pain you feel. I remain

Your friend
Laura Niegart
