Address Reply to: No 424447 M.G.Coy 7th Brigade Canadian B.E.F 15/4/1916 Dear Sister I suppose you will be thinking I have departed from this world altogether when I have not written to you for so long. Well you will have to excuse me this time as I was waiting until we should go up the line - then I would know the proper address, but we will have been here two weeks tomorrow so I thought it was time I should write a few lines, we are at the Base and that is a long way from the front line we are further away here than we were at Shorncliffe it is a nice part of the country around here, it is very like the old country as far as the roads and the woods go, we don't have very much to do just now, we get a holiday all Thursday and half a day Saturday and of course all day Sundays, so we are fairly well treated, but I suppose we will make up for it all before we get finished with it we have just had a lecture by Gipsy Smith1, so I had to stop writing it was telling how he had been saved and it was pretty good, I think this is about all this time as all the boys are trying to get something to eat, I will write when we get up the line as I will have to wait until we get there before we get any mail hope this finds you well as it leaves me fine. I remain Your loving brother Alex
