My Dearest Jack

I received your postcard dated May 2nd this morning & was pleased to hear you were alright but sorry about your knee dear. I hope it is still on the mend. You can imagine how anxious we have been to hear from you, as you were reported missing soon after I received your last letter, dated April 22nd & this is the first news we have had of you since. I have written to you every week as usual & I sent you a lot of papers too, but I don't suppose you would be allowed to have those anyway. I also sent the other pair of socks & a few cigarettes the day before I went to Tacoma (April 30th) so if you haven't already received them they will be at "headquarter." I should think they would send them on to you if they knew where you were. Are there any of your friends with you? I saw Mr. Sivells name among the missing too. Several people have asked me about you. I saw J Phillips last week & he seemed very anxious about you, he had heard that you were wounded as well as missing, but we only saw that you were missing. J Phillips seemed a little hurt that you had not written to him since you left here, but I told him I would let him know as soon as I heard from you. I wrote to your mother a month or two back but haven't heard from her since, I guess she hasn't the heart to write letters, poor soul, she must feel lonely! Did Kitty go to live with your Aunt? I only stayed at Tacoma three weeks as it was too hard a place for me, it nearly finished Louie & I off for good. Let me know if you would be allowed to receive tobacco or anything when you write & don't forget to ask for anything you need we will try to let you have it. Now dear I must close as I believe I'm only allowed to write two papers. Glad to say we are all well & more that pleased to know that you are safe.
