Got to Algoa Bay early this morning. Laying about 3/4 of a mile out of Port Elizabeth. Ships laying all around. Country rather hilly. Not mountainous like Cape Town. Port Elizabeth built on Hill and side of it. No docks. Small tugs with barges load and unload. Captain & some officers went on shore. Cap't paid us a pound each. Ottawa Sparks very sick. Major stopped the fatigue party. Colin and I stood on deck and studied the stars. Could see the Coal Sack under the S. Cross. Some troops landed here. Over 100 Royal Scots came on board off the Cavour (83). Saw a Jelly Fish.
