Dear Son,

Just a line to let you know we are well, & hope you are the same, havent heard from you in quite some time, but people tell me that they are not letting mail out until this invasion is over, so I guess that will take place pretty soon now, I hope that will finish the war, everyone seems to think that it will.

Ruth had a letter from Mal. he is home on leave & expects to come out here next week, he has thirty five days, all told so that is pretty nice for him. The weather here at last has broken & it is just swell today, but Wednesday the 24 was terrible cold & raining all day, we had planned to go to White Rock for the day, but of course had to cancel it.

Last Tuesday was sports day for the school kids, I happened to go into town in the same cart as they did, saw Doug & some of the rest of the boys that were there, they all look fine, but there were such a crowd of them that I didn't get a chance to talk to any of them.

By the way, I've sent you a parcel last week, so when you get it dont laugh as someone told me that paper was hard to get, so I just put a roll of toilet paper in it I dident to it for a joke was told that it would be welcome if it is all right let me know & I can always send more.

Havent heard from Mary for quite awhile but guess she is all right. Am going to send you the number on your cigarettes that we have sent as if you haven't received them by the time you get this you can check on them will close now with all my love
