Dear Mother
I hope you are quite well, & that you resieved, those cards all right telling were I am, I am quite well & in the best of health, so dont worry about me, we are being very well treated indeed, & the camp is quite a nice one. I hope that I wasn't posted missing before you get the card. We are allowed a post card every Sunday & a letter on the 1st & 15th of every month. I was captured at ypres on the 2nd of June, I only wish I know what happened to the rest of the Boys, some of them are here, but I think most of them were killed.
Be shure & send the things I asked for on the Post Card I sent on the 17th [?]. dont trouble to send any fancy things, such as cake or anything like that. Will you let me know what become of Ted. Petchford if you can find out, I am very much afraid that he was killed in the earlier part of the day, but cant say for shure. I hope that the war will soon be over now so that we can get back Home again, it seems very hard to realize that our war service is over now, that we wont be seeing the star shells going up any more at night times, I guess that you wont have to worry any more about me getting hurt.
you will have to write to Maggie for me, for I wont have the letters to spare, as her to write often & be shure I write often yourself. Is Vernon playing any cricket this yet, we had a few good games juts before we went into the Trenches the last time, well I hope I shall soon be able to come Home now. Give my love to all at Home & to Emmy & Sam. I am going to use my next Sunday Card to write to the Canadian Record Office, so it will be 8 or 9 days before I write again
with love to all I remain your loving Son
Tommy.
