It was in the early stages of the war that you answered the call to duty, enlisting with the 25th Battery, C.F.A. at Ottawa on July 13th, 1915.

After but two weeks training you sailed for England on July 29th.

In England you were transferred to the 23rd Battery, C.F.A. and on January 17th, 1916 sailed for France.

You were through the battle of the Somme in 1915 and through Vimy, Lens and Passchendale in 1917, and in 1918 through Amiens and Arras, where you went down the line gassed.

After a month in hospital you returned to the Battery and went through Cambrai and Valenciennes and were at Mons when the armistice was signed.

You were awarded the Military Medal for bravery and at Valenciennes in October 1918.

After the armistice you went forward to the Rhine with the army of occupation for six weeks, returning to Canada on May 22nd.
