Dear Mother

Well here we are at last in France and are not sorry to be there either we had a nice trip over and everyone is O.K.

I was up to London on Thursday and Friday and had a good time going around to all the old places. It would take a long while to see all that is to be seen in London. On Thursday I went to the United Services Museum and saw a number of old weapons also a plan of the Battle of Waterloo and the uniform which Wellington wore at Waterloo. They also have the blanket Wolfe was carried in after he was wounded at Quebec in 1759 It took quite a time to collect all those relics. I guess London is certainly a fine city. We went to the Zoological Gardens and saw nearly everything there. There is a great collection of animals and birds there also Botanical Gardens. The time was so short that I could not see everything. In the afternoon I went to the British Museum and spent a few hours there. I saw quite a lot of old relics of interest. Friday night I got back to Shorncliffe at midnight and had to be up at 5 am. Saturday morning to get ready to go on the draft. So you see last week I was kept pretty busy. We are now allowed to send letters through in envelopes without being censored but have to be careful not to put anything relating to military matters in them otherwise they will stop us sending letters without being censored.

Well news is rather scarce so I must ring off.

Write soon and let me know all the news.

Goodby for the present
