Dear mother
Thank you for your letters, It is a very long time since I had one from maggie. 
I am still waiting for the Records office to send my Proof of rank along before I can get to Holland, I wrote three month ago & havent heard yet. it is about time they woke up, the other fellows that were capture the same day as myself have gone 3 weeks ago. With love to all your loving son Tom.

Dear mother
I have not had a letter from you for some time but I am living in hopes of getting one soon. We are having very windy weather just now, & very dusty, I am not on the roll for Holland just my proof of rank has not come through they are taking an awful time sending it. I hope that the Boys are getting along all right love to all at Home. your loving Son

Thank you for your Letters, There's another party of NCO's in for exchange today but I am not on the list, I do wish they would hurry up with my proof of rank, it is over two months since I wrote about it, Those men are mostly captured in July 1916; I hope that you are all quite well, & that the crops are coming along all right, give my love to all at Home. I remain your loving Son. Tom.

I hope you are all quite well, I hope it wont be long now until I go to Holland, my Proof of Rank arrived at last. We are enjoying very miserable Weather just at present very cold & windy with frequent rain storms, I hope that you are having better than this. I had a slight attack of the grippe last week, but I am quite well again. Give my love to all at Home & to Emmy & her family I remain

I hope you are all quite well, I had a letter from you today dated 21st May. I hope that the boys had good sport at Bellaport. We are having very nice weather here again now, we had it pretty rotten here for a long time. I expect to go to Holland with the next party my proof of Rank arrived all right at last. I hope you are all quite well, I have been getting yours more regular lately altho they are not up to date yet. 
We are having pretty nice weather now, I hope you are getting the same, I am still in Germany, & there does not seem to be much chance of getting into Holland just yet. Give my love to all at Home I remain your loving Son
