Dear Joan and John:

I hope you had a good time at Kelowna. Don’t you like the Watts. I like them ever so much myself. They treated me fine when I visited them that time.

You would think it great out here now. Nearly every time you look up there is one or two aeroplanes flying about. They are as natural as birds over here. We were staying in cellars up near the front line one time when a German aeroplane flew over low and dropped some bombs on the next street. It sounded awfully strange but we were not at all anxious to go out and see it -no sah- we just pretended it was all jake and kept low. Another day we saw a German shell explode under a transport wagon and lift it about two hundred feet in the air. I beat it for an old trench nearby, you can bet.

Have you seen anything of Des. Vicars. I hope he doesn’t return here as he has done his bit if you should ask me.
