Dear Mr Tilt.

The enclosed letter was handed to me last night by a Canadian boy who was admitted to this Clearing Station , with the request that i would send it on to you. he said he had found it in the pocket of a lad who was killed beside him, but whom he did not know. He thought you might like to have the letter, but I am very sorry indeed to have to tell you the sad news of your friend’s death, especially as I know nothing of the circumstances of it except that it was apparently instantaneous.

If you happen to know his people perhaps you would let them know.
