Sat. Oct. 16, 1943

Dear Inona-:

Well I have a few minutes so guess I will star you a line or two. I was supposed to be flying this morning but had to go to the dentist and get a tooth filled so am taking the rest of the morning off. Some how or other I knocked the corner off one of my back teeth so had to get it put back on. It was quite a job, took him an hour and a half.

I finally got a letter away to Stanley. It took me quite awhile to get it away but as the saying is its better than never. I sent him a little joke so I hope he doesn't laugh to hard at it.

Gee is it ever an awful job writing letters to everyone. I only have an hour or so in the evenings and a person can't write to everybody.

I got a parcel from Hazel the beginning of the week and one from Dorothy to-day with 300 cigarettes in it. Was I ever glad to get them. That's the first bunch of cigarettes so far.

Had a letter from Jim yesterday, he was just going to start his leave. He and I were supposed to go to-gether but I am a little too busy. He won't be getting any leave until near Christmas at least.

I have done very well for mail this week. Got me letter from Mom and about five from Dorothy. If it keeps up the way it has I won't have any complaining I think there is a lot of mail I haven't got from September through.

I wish somebody would get kind hearted enough to send me over new pen. This one won't write worth a darn sometimes.

Well its time to go and eat so I guess I will go.

Love

Austin.
