Belgium April 11th Dear Ones at Home - We're having a fine rest just now, at least it's been fine since Sunday at noon when my tenure of office as orderly sergeant came to an end. It's certainly "some job" orderly sergeant! It will be two months before I'm on that again so it's just as well to have it over. I got through it with out any trouble too so really I'm quite pleased. I haven't been on pass yet for instead of being as service L/Cpl now I'm a junior sergeant & so drop a bit on the leave list. I should be going within the next few weeks though so "we should worry", I've just so much more to look forward to all the time. We had a sergeants dinner last night and it certainly was a full feed. If the Boches could have seen the good things we enjoyed ourselves I'm afraid that they wouldn't have been at all pleased. It has been very good luck not to have to go out with a working party this time out for rest, so all in all it has been a very successful trip. I received a pair of very fine socks from Mary last night and also an interesting letter. The parcels from all the family have also arrived OK so no wonder I'm feeling in fine spirits. We're fairly near a large town just now, but like most of the towns near enough to go to they're hardly worth the trouble of visiting. We've had a change of cooks recently and the food has improved wonderfully so I expect that I'll add a few more pounds to my frame in a very short time. Just now I'm feeling the very best possible, I've had a bath and acquired a new tunic, shoes and putties so I feel quite respectable again. Permissible news is very scarce so I'll say au revoir. Lots of love to all Charlie
