Sun. March 25th, 1945

Dear Mrs. Baker,

As you see, I have had the good fortune to have ‘Both' your splendid & fine-looking boys here, and I know how much ya would like to have been in my place. Stan read your last two newsy-letters to me & was very glad, as mail is so long following him about with lengthy lapses in between. He looks very well & is such a nice fellow, quieter than ‘Sunny Jim' but both of them having the same ‘fine principles' with which ya & your husband instilled them. Jim has put on a bit of weight but looks great, despite the responsibilities of his work! As the boys have already written, we had a lovely evening at the theatre (thanks to Jim's kindness) & I was very proud to go out with two big escorts; wishing ya could share this pleasure with me. Spring growth & flowers have made the Parks very beautiful & the boys went to Kew Gardens the other day in brilliant sunshiny weather almost as warm as summer; it has done all us war-weary "Southern Englanders" such a lot of good - the fine weather, excellent news from all Fronts & the knowledge that we will all have our men & boys ‘Home' again ‘ere long. Hoping ya are all keeping well & enjoying Springtime too... with many kind thoughts:
