Dear Mother,

Just a line to say I am getting along well and hope you are all the same. I received your letter a few days ago also the parcel yesterday. Tell father the Pad came in very handy I had just finished the paper I had. I am still in bed but as you can see I write my own letters I am not sick at all. It is just a case of keeping quiet and letting the wound heal. I can eat just as much as ever so now you know I'm not sick. I suppose you heard all the news about Vimy long ago so there is no use me telling you. I suppose the cropping is nearly done by now. Well news is just as scarce here as at the front so I must close.

Write soon.

Goodbye. Charlie.
