Dear Mother,

Your letter came to-night. Hope your box comes to-morrow. There was a big parade this morning of all the troops in camp and in the city. We were also inspected by Brigadier General Logie at Queen's Park. I have not been down to Aunt Florrie's or Uncle Dan's yet. Guess I will go to-morrow. I was on early piquet last night and had to sleep with all my clothes on. I will change my undershirt when I go down to Uncle Dan's to-morrow and give Bruce the money for the shirts. Art Moyer has just set down beside me here and I didn't notice him till he spoke. I will try and come home for my birthday hope I can make it. I think this will be all this time will write again soon.

Your son Jay.
