Dear Phil:-

Well old man I certainly was pleased to get that letter. The Winnipeg district must be pretty wet all right when they have to live upstairs and swim their horses across the street.

You will be feeling quite important when Frank goes to Sewell and you will be the only one of the men folk left home out of five.

So you belong to the scouts eh! Well it's the best thing you could join if you want to swim and signal and get all the badges you can as anything you learn is useful. The difference between scouts and cadets is that the cadets are only playing at being soldiers while scouts can learn things that make a man handy and still learn to do everything that cadets can. You want to be sure and send a picture of yourself in uniform the same as Frank.

I am glad to hear that you are on the lacrosse team at school. Keep after it, it's a good game. You have got a good chance living in a city with so many parks and playgrounds.

How are you getting on at school? Do you still go to Mulvey School?

Syd is in hospital with a dandy dose of boils. I expect he will be out in a day or two.

Well old man be good to Mother and don't argue with Bessie because it's no use, even Dad can't convince her.

Keep on writing to me and let me know how you are getting along and I will try and answer if I can.

Remember me to everybody that you see and we will have a good time when we all come home.

Your loving brother
