London,
Dec. 23/43
Dear Shirley,
How's things and Stuff! Good. Have been having a very pleasant leave I spent a few days with Johnnie in Bognor Regis where he lives. The rest of the time I've been up here in London, rushing around trying to do some Xmas shopping for Betty who has to work all day. My Christmas shopping has been, as usual, very spasmodic and late.
This letter which is meant to convey my Xmas greetings will also be later, I fear. But then punctuality never was a strong point of mine.
I trust you're having an enjoyable festive season with parties, dances, etc. laid one. Only wish I could return to Plymouth to partake of the fun of the odd dance, etc. Still I expect I'd have to queue up for you, so it wouldn't be so good.
Listened to some good South American music last night at the Lanadorone Restaurant. Did a bit of dancing - O.K. so it isn't dancing! well, I shuffled around anyway. Am now going down to spend Xmas and New Years with Johnny. I'll give you my address cause I'd like to hear from you - please.
Well, Shirley-pus, this is all for now. Have a very Happy Xmas and a ditto New Year. Please give my season greeting to your mother and sister and thanks to you all for many a pleasant morning, afternoon or evening and/or meal enjoyed at 6m Dundair Park
Cheery bye for now,
Lots of love,
Dave.
P.S. DON'T EAT TOO MUCH ON XMAS DAY.
REMEMBER YOUR ---- ETC.
